Projects - Inclusive Curriculum Project

Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA)
This challenging 12-month project with the Teaching and Learning Committee at University College, ADFA empowered staff to review their approaches to an inclusive curriculum in Engineering, Science and the Humanities.

Early work on the project involved consultancy sessions with senior staff followed by a number of information sessions for all academic staff to explain and explore the principles of inclusivity and diversity. Interactive workshops for staff on inclusive learning, teaching and assessment strategies followed.

We then worked closely with ten key groups representing the diverse discipline areas within University College for staff to audit their curriculum, language, teaching and assessment practices, design new courses and to develop new approaches ready for 2000.

A one-day staff conference, facilitated by the Centre and held at the end of the year-long project, allowed participants to share their project findings.
