Carlton Community Lifelong Learning Hub

This research and community development project is based at the Carlton Primary School which is in the grounds of the high-rise public housing estate in Carlton. The project is part of a broader movement to recognise the community need for educational opportunities beyond the traditional linear kindergarten to university model, while at the same time encouraging cross-sectoral and community wide development opportunities. Given the diverse population living on the Carlton estate and the complexity of interrelated issues relating to language, literacy, education, employment opportunity, health, trauma and parenting, the hub aims to address the educational and service needs of local residents in a holistic manner.
