The Public Interest Journalism Foundation recognises that leadership and public interest issues require an informed and engaged community, and this in turn requires the sustainability of quality journalism and social media assets and tools. The Foundation is working collaboratively with government, media, business, community groups and the journalistic profession on a range of forums, experimental media models and professional training and resources.
It holds major forums such as the 2010 New News Forum at the Melbourne Writers Festival, and is hosting a citizen-funded journalism pilot YouCommNews.

The Democratic Audit of Australia, part of an international collaboration, recognises that democracy is an outcome of issues such as political equality, civil liberties, human rights, public engagement and deliberation. The Democratic Audit works with Australian and international partners to monitor democratic health and provide sophisticated benchmarks.
It holds academic and parliamentary forums, makes submissions and provides community and media engagement.
