Entering rental housing

This is a study of entry into the various forms of rental housing. Whilst there is secondary data on those who live in various rental sectors, little is known about the motivations, expectations and problems that encourage or constrain households to choose social housing over private rental, or public housing over community housing. This study involves national surveys of households awaiting entry into public housing and assisted private renters to determine motivations for choice of rental sector and to measure the unmet need for social housing. The project is funded by AHURI.
