7th Australian Media Traditions Conference (AMT2011)
21-23 November 2011, Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
The 7th Australian Media Traditions Conference will be at Swinburne University's Hawthorn campus in Melbourne on 21-23 November 2011.
Held every second year since 1999, the conference includes keynote addresses, themed panels and individual academic papers that offer some depth of historical perspective about media.
This year's theme is Trends, Traditions and Transformations. It seeks to cast a wide net across established and new media; informal and personal media as well as mainstream and corporate forms like telecommunications, television, radio, newspapers, magazines and books; and those like the web, mobile and social media that integrate personal and corporate elements.
Conceiving all history as embedded in media, the conference is interested in the connections between media content, practices, people and institutions and the societies in which they function. Considering Australia as part of the world, it is interested in practitioners, producers, audiences and users of media wherever they are located.
A complete programme of the event can be accessed here.
We look forward to seeing you in November.
