Managing medium density development: A municipal case study

Thesis abstract
The project is an analysis of the planning, management, and political issues raised by medium density housing provision, using Boroondara as a case study. The research will assess the social and economic implications of medium density housing on a local community and provide understanding that can assist local and state governments to better manage the process of residential development. The research also aims to make a contribution to political and urban debates about the role of local government in the planning of Australian cities, citizenship rights and participation in local democracy, and the nature of local community and identity in the global economic context.
